Minutes of the Ordinary Meeting held in Temora at the Railway Station on Saturday 3 rd November 2018

Vice Chairman Maurice Simpson opened the meeting and welcomed everyone present.

Guess Speaker: Joe Fealy ARTC Business Development Manager Riverina Advised us of a Representative in Transport NSW based in Wagga Brendon Reynolds Ph 0466322933 who may be able to help with our meeting in Sydney. Joe went on to say that he has done a lot of work in the Riverina to move freight from road to rail and that 347,000 Bales of Cotton had been moved by rail and went on to say that a number of companies though out the Riverina are investigating rail options. As for the Inland Rail the concerns of the farmers with stock and machinery crossings and the time tables of trains. Bill West asked for an update of the number of modal for NSW regional areas linked to feed into the Inland Rail and the eastern sea board and the freight line Maldon – Dombarton. Joe stated that ARTC have the lease of the network and operate 450 trains a day from WA, Vic, NSW and Queensland and some fright will have to be feed by road. He stated that he will share statistics from the western end of the Riverina that he has obtained over the last three years but the market has to drive it and must have the volumes of fright. Visy will soon be running type A road trains 2x40ft boxes to Wagga at 35 movements a day instead of 70. The Visy project is driving the intermodal in Wagga.

TREASURERS REPORT: Presented by Dennis Hughes Opening Balance as at 1 st August 2018 $ 13938.13 Income $38.40 Expenses $150.00 Closing Balance as at 31 st October 2018 $13,826.53 MOVED: Bill West That the committee pay the expenses of Maurice and Dennis for attending the meeting at Parliament House on the 13th November2018 SECONDED: Ian Gray CARRIED.

REPORTS:
Weddin Shire Craig Bembrick: Weddin Received a Sporting grant of $1.5 mil $6.7 mil for the Lignum Bridge on the Mid Western Highway RMS refused permission to run road trains from Forbes through Bogolong to Marsden. New Buildings under construction the Tafe and Medical Centre Maurice Simpson advised that the Weddin Shire will remove its last wooden bridge this year.

Ian Gray: The Regional Rail action group working on a better replacement train for the XPT and the Government is calling for tenders. John Baralla re: faster trains south of Canberra and to Orange

Hilltops Council: John Horton: Harden Station has been cleaned but still requires a Station Master. Rural Fire Head Quarters to be built at the Harden Race Coarse and a new Hospital and a new Ambulance Station. Galong lime mine will increase production from 320,000 ton to 420,000 ton which is all moved by road.

Cowra Bill West: Blayney Demondrille line. The business case has not been seen yet. $800,000 Upgrade for foot paths in the main street and the replacement of the low level bridge.

Temora Dale Wiencke: Dale gave a worm welcome to the committee and gave a Power Point presentation of the progress of the Temora Shire one of their projects been the upgrade of the Railway Station and the completed upgrade of the hospital. Upgrade of sporting change rooms for Ariah Park and Temora. Refurbishment of the town hall and the airport run way has been completed. Bypass is still on going

Parkes Ken McGrath: Recycled water from the new sewerage works will be used to water parks around town. The ARTC office is now in Parkes

Dubbo Vicki Etheridge: The Council have major concerns about the construction and route of the bypass around Dubbo. Vicki suppled photos of the route the RMS have already decided on and have started construction and photos of the Councils preferred route. There are a good few of transport trucks bypassing Dubbo via Narromine. It would be a good opportunity to take this to the meeting in Sydney. MOVED: Bill West That the information from the Dubbo Bypass be presented to the Minister at the Sydney meeting and that all work be suspended. SECONDED: Maurice Simpson CARRIED.

General Business:

Ian Gray: Items to present to the Minister 1. Blayney Demondrille 2. Maldon Dombarton and the Bell Line of Road

John Horton: Concerning speed limit on Albury Street the western side of Murrumburrah, He was advised to go to the Local Traffic Committee.

Grenfell: Asked to supply information on the decision of the RMS on the opposed road train loop.

Philip Laird: Letter Maldon Dombarton be sent to Minister Constance
